Hearing the news that the Mordialloc based pottery studio Klei was due to close, I spotted an opportunity to take the camera out for a stroll.
With the studio’s teachers Laurie and Mark retiring, it was time to empty out their creative home of 30 years.
While the textures, splatters and doggos were just part of their daily activities, these things really caught my eye when I first visited, so it was really fun to return with the camera to photograph them before the premises returns to being a boring old factory again. One thing I miss about working on magazines which you don’t always get to do with event photography or corporate photography, is the editorial style feature where a selection of photos will give you a great story without the need for many words, so this was an nice opportunity to reconnect with that feeling.
A big thanks to Laurie & Mark for allowing me in to their space and making some time for photos – I hope your retirements will be as creative and as fulfilling as your working lives.
