It was as if someone had asked, what kind of event would you like to photograph once Melbourne comes out of lockdown?

Beer Fest came just at the right time for both us and the thousands of beer lovers who made it to the Melbourne Beer Fest 2021 in Catani Gardens, St Kilda to soak up the last of the summer warmth and enjoy some of the 300 strong selection of beers on offer from a range of brewers from across Australia.

With masterclasses from brewers and distillers, live music on the main stage, plus stand up comedy from Claire Hooper, Brett Blake, Nick Cody, and Geraldine Hickey, it had all the requisites for a great day out for beer lovers and any Melbourne resident emerging from lockdown.

Along with our event videographer and following the photography brief to capture the beer, branding, brewers, general atmosphere and people enjoying themselves, we  thought we’d give visitors time to warm up by photographing the brewers first, but it turned out that it wasn’t going to be necessary.

With all the time spent in lockdown, most people were pretty enthusiastic just to be out and socialising and often wanted to be photographed once they spotted me.  If only all events could be that easy!

I wonder if this new trend and excitable vibe will transfer over to conferences and corporate events?
